Rising bright and early (about 6am feeling like I’d overslept as my body still said it was 11am) we packed and loaded up the car. Marianne was frustrated that the pool was closed from Labor Day for the winter. We headed towards I-75, taking a detour via a nearby Wal-Mart. We loaded up with various bits of food and drink to keep us going for a few days, and things such as a pay as you go cell phone, and then headed south. Just south of Macon on I-16 we stopped at a rest area near Dublin and had a nice picnic. The sky was near cloudless, a pleasant breeze and the insects were making their usual funny noises.
We got to the Quality Inn Savannah North just off I-95 feeling in good shape. After settling in (we upgraded to a suite so Marianne could have a fridge for her milk), we went next door to the Island Grill restaurant. Marianne had some mixed veg disk while I had battered mushrooms followed by a New York steak. The food was very nice but, as we should have remembered, there was an enormous amount of it. We slept a bit better that night!
